This Easter holiday considers as my first Easter in Germany. Having spent our Easter days last year in Amsterdam - a holiday like in-a-race trip that made us a little exhausted, this year we wish more for a relaxing and quiet, peaceful time. The atmosphere of the Easter holiday is warming, something that reminds us of Christmas! Only that this year the weather this Easter is even colder than that am Weihnachten. It is still surprisingly white and sometimes raining snow.
Cheerful Easter time!

Being closely related to religion, Easter is "is a Christian festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion at Calvary. Easter is a moveable feast, meaning it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. The date of Easter varies between 22 March and 25 April." (wikipedia)
In some countries including Germany, where Christianity is a state religion, or where the country has large Christian population, Easter is a public holiday, with Good Friday, Easter Saturday, Sunday and Easter Monday.
Easter comes - das Osterfest!!
For the celebration of Easter holiday, many follow the tradition of coloring hard-boiled eggs and giving gifts with chocolate shapes of rabbits and eggs. The Easter Bunny is a popular legendary anthropomorphic Easter gift-giving character analogous to Santa Claus in American culture. For our Easter trip in Amsterdam last year, we did not find much Easter atmostphere or decorations (or perhaps I have missed it?). In Germany, one can find many decorations in shops and at home with cute eggs and bunnies.
Happy Easter holiday 2013!
