Roses for happiness

Happy weekend to everyone!

I am in a mood to just write down several updates of myself during the past few weeks:

First, the rennovation of my apartment. Well, in Germany, people take home decorations rather seriously (you know, the local Germans spend quite a good part of their time enjoying the peaceful 'ruhig' relaxing time at home). Although I think the apartment is good enough, but my local German wishs to make home place more beautiful, cosy and welcoming. As a result, some further work needs to be made, including to search for some more furniture, decoration stuff, pictures on the wall etc. Anyway, this process will take a little longer throughout this year (despite that he would like to make things done as soon as possible); hopefully, I will be able to upload some photos of the apartment by Christmas ;-).
Regarding work stuff, my research project has met more challenges and difficulties, which I will not go into details here but sometimes I do have tiring disappointed time, and lack of motivation.. Is tomorrow always another day?
Not a good thing that has happened but I got a cold and have been unwell for more than one week. The weather in April is like the mood of a teenage girl. It is still cold with hopelessly little signs of spring. Will the spring really come?

Let's hope for spring, ..also because next weekend I will be visiting Prague again - my fourth time visit. Exciting!!! :-) Hope that myself as well as my work progress will get a little better before this short trip to the beautiful Prague with so much of my wonderful memory...

Time to blossom on my sister's Big Day - it represents the Day well, doesn't it?

It's the One Day that every girl dreams to be perfect, even since she's little.. No matter how it turns out, when we look back, it is, still, one of the happiest days in our lives....

Gift of Nature!

Fall 2011 in the Baltic Sea, i.e. in der Ostsee - Das Leben ist schön!

Life sometimes can be challenging. There will be always ups and downs,.. but at the end of one small road, there will be something special life will reserve for you. So keep trying your best, keep believing, keep living, keep enjoying!

For the above photo, I find it a wonderful capture of my second favourite season: Fall. I have had a nice time last November in the Baltic Sea, even though the weather there in November is normally cold and rainy. But after the rain, the sky is always so bright and shining, like the way our lives are. And when I found this photo again in my collection, I happily think of one of my lovely girlfriends: Hang Tam!

I think about how she always reserves a special place in her heart for each every friend of her. How lucky I am to be one of her friends! So the photo is a gift from me to you, Tam. You know there are others not only me who admire, feel special about you and care for you. And even if there are time things are not going the way we want them to be, there will be always a special gift for you right at the next hidden corner along your road, no matter it's the gift from a friend, from nature around you, from every day life..!!!

2012 - A review of a year of experiences

Another year has passed. Time flies - Die Zeit verliert wie im Flug. Looking back at the year, I will focus in this entry about the major events and journeys that have happened.

2012 has been an eventful year! From the beginning of the year, I have set for myself a number of goals. Although not all have been accomplished, or strickly speaking, still little has been achieved to the level that I have truly aimed for, but there has probably never been a year that I have got that many experiences. When I think experiences can be also considered as a reward, as they always re-shape the person who I am today and contribute to my self-improvement, I allow myself to be a little proud of the year 2012 - a year of experiences!

My six-month stay in Prague was long enough for me to fall in love with the city; on the other hand, it was also kind of short to let me miss Prague when I'm away and naturally longing for a returning visit. I have witnessed Prague transforming from glowing colourful and bright autumn to one of the extreme cold winters over the last, probably, twenty years. Time flies, only the memory remains forever in our hearts...

Prague... so much memory that give me special emotional feelings and a sort of thought that I just simply can not describe what I have experienced in plain words. If only there is some special tool rather than words, something that can just let you see through my mind, that can restract all and then form an abstract story with detailed emotions, like a movie perhaps.

First Halloween pumpkin carving experience - 05.11.10

Last Friday, in a search for a delicious menu for a friend visit, I decided to make a pumpkin soup as a starter. Luckily I found two lovely Japanese pumpkins in the Spree German supermarket, which not only tasted good :-), but also became nice shapes for our first Halloween carving experience:

Here is the menu that I prepared for a cosy dinner with three friends - Vladimir, Mathias and Kim Hoa (supposedly four but Thomas missed it), most likely for myself to remember a possible combination of delicious and quite simple-cooking dishes:
Starter: Pumpkin soup (recipe adopted from gocbep.com);

Salad: A plate of tomato slices with cheese together with a bowl of peanut salad (Vietnamese style, eat with souffle);
Side dish: Grilled bacon with apple and baked pineapple - this is the star of the dinner, a light dish, very tasty and I like very much the addition of the two fruits to the bacon;
Main dish: Spaghetti Carbonara (learnt from our Italien friend in the SAHC Master, Riccardo, special thanks!);
Desert: Chocolate yogurt with pineapple and dried grape.

The dinner went well with some fun moments. After that, we played the Monopoly game, which is a game depending mostly on luck. Therefore, I only got excited at first, but after almost 2 hours, I lost a bit of my concentration and made wrong moves a couple of times. To conclude, I enjoyed cooking for friends and gathering with them a lot, reminding me of the wonderful time in Prague that each of my colleague in the SAHC Master from a different country prepared our own cultural dinner. We will do it more often here.

In the mood for new cooking the next day, I tried a new dish: Korean omelet with the recipe I read again from gocbep.com. I used to have this in Singapore, this is a nice dish once in a while, but if one has it often, one might get fed up with the creamy taste:

It takes about 2.5-hour by high-speed train from Paris to Rennes. We're lucky having friends in Rennes to enjoy a weekend getaway here and to visit some famous places nearby. Thanks you guys!!
